Title Tags – SEO Tip to Improve Search-Engine Ranking!

Want Some Title Tags SEO Tips?

Are you looking for SEO tips that can improve your search engine rankings? Start with the title tags! For those that are not familiar, a title tag is the text that is displayed at the top left corner of the browser window.
These title tags are arguably the most important SEO tags for any site.
Most search engines only allow the maximum length of the title tags to be displayed somewhere between 60-70 characters in length. A good rule of thumb would be to limit your title tag to 65 characters or less, because most search engines do not display more than that, and your title tag will most likely be cut off around the 65 character mark on the search results page.

The search engine spiders use these title tags to determine what the content on your page is all about. This stands to reason why it’s a good idea to place your keywords in the page title, plus as I mentioned in my Keyword Density article, that it is always a good idea to place your keywords as close to the beginning of the title as possible.

Example… let’s say that you have a site about Health and Relationships. You have an article that shows you how Love and Health are intertwined! You’ve decided that your keywords for your particular article is about “Loving Relationships”.

For this case, an example for the title tag can say “Loving Relationships Leads to Greater Health!” which is relevant to the topic of the article written.

When the spider crawls your site, the title tags are the first bit of information it sees, so the spider will read it and then look at the remainder of the page to find keywords or keyword phrases that are used in your article which will help determine how relevant the title is to the rest of the content. If the content, h1 and h2 tags relate to your title tag, then you are good to go. This is why it is so important to target the most relevant keywords in your Blog’s Title Tag.

The Title Tags Application!

If you are creating your own Static HTML website through software similar to Dreamweaver, then you most likely know how to add this information. If you happen to have a WordPress-based site then the story is a little different. Some WordPress themes have an area for adding a custom title, but not all.
If your theme does not have this option, then by default WordPress creates the title tag from the Heading Title of your article. If the title to your article happens to be longer than 60-70 characters like a few of mine, then your title will be cut off in the search results as mentioned above.
There is a solution to this problem… the All in One SEO Pack plug-in. There are other plug-ins available, but this would be the one that I would recommend. This plug-in allows you to create your own title tag text and counts the characters as you type showing you if you need to shorten your title tag. On another note, it also allows you to type in an article or video description for the Meta Description Tag, and place keywords into the Keywords Tag.
