Onpage Search Engine Optimization Check

Alright, your site is completed and you are ready to launch it into the Internet ocean with your sail set high on a windy day!  It’s an exciting moment, but it’s in your best interest to take a final look at your onpage search engine optimization.

Since your core Website is completed, now is the best time to take a second look at your onpage search engine optimization.  First and foremost, make sure the keywords you have targeted actually generate traffic.  Many times I have seen Webmasters target keywords that simply bring little or no traffic.

Or worse yet, the Webmaster is trying to rank for too many highly competitive keywords on a single page.  Just to verify the keywords you targeted bring in some traffic, you may want to take a look at Google’s Adword Traffic Estimator Tool.  It’s a simple tool to use, and it can shed a light on how much traffic Google could actually send you for the keywords your site targets.  If you need keyword suggestions, then use Google’s Adword Keywords Suggestion Tool.  You can also download and install a free keyword tool named Niche Examiner.

Adequately targeting your keywords is very important.  I have worked with Webmasters that have not only skipped keyword research, but they have spent a lot of time and effort building backlinks with anchor text containing low/no traffic keywords.

Next, we need to take a look at keyword positioning, density, tag usage, plus much more.  This is a task best handled with software, and my preference is IBP.  This software will not only analyze your Webpage, but will compare it to the top ten ranking Webpages for your keyword

Onpage SEO is very important when you launch a Website.  From day one, it is important to build trust with the search engines.  IBP or similar software that detects over-usage of keywords, keyword stuffing, excessive hidden text, is very helpful.

There are also free Online keyword density analyzers available at no cost.  If you decide to use one of these, run a report of the top three Websites for your keyword.  After doing this, analyze your site to make sure your keyword density does not exceed their average.

While onpage SEO has little to do with getting a site indexed quickly, it is your opportunity to give a first impression to the search engines.  That second look at your onpage SEO is well worth the effort.
Now that I have covered onpage search engine optimization.
